What Is The Salt Water Flush?

There are many ways to cleanse your colon. Some people recommend fasting for a day or two while others will talk about special herbs, teas or other things you can take. I would not recommend any of these. The best and most natural way is the method I am going to describe below which is called the salt water flush. This method of detoxification involves drinking a mixture of warm water and salt. This mixture helps to cleanse the colon get your digestive system back on track.

Why cleansing is important

It is important to cleanse the colon because it is where most of the toxins in your body are stored. When these toxins are not eliminated from the body, they can cause a variety of issues:

  • fatigue
  • bloating
  • headaches
  • bad breath
  • body odor
  • skin problems
  • constipation

How to do a Salt Water Flush

I have had the best results by performing this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

There are a few things you will need in order to perform a salt water flush:

  • Warm water – at least 32 ounces (four cups)
  • Sea salt – non-iodized and unrefined (one tablespoon) – preferably a white Celtic salt (Pink Himalayan salt is loaded with heavy metals). you can also add a little lemon for taste
  • Two glasses

Start by mixing the warm water, sea salt (start with 2 tsps) in one glass (stir until the salt is dissolved) and fill the other one with filtered water. Alternate drinking both glasses until both drinks are gone or you feel stomach discomfort. Try to drink the mixture in 5 minutes. After drinking the mixture, you should immediately lie down on your right side and stay still for 30 minutes. This allows the mixture to reach your colon. After 30 minutes, you can get up and move around as normal but I would recommend staying near a bathroom.

Over the next few hours you will have multiple bowel movements. stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. You may experience diarrhea and/or cramping during the flush. This is normal and will subside within a few hours.

What to expect after completion

After completing the salt water flush, you should feel lighter, have more energy and your digestion should be improved. I would not recommend eating anything for at least 30 minutes after completing the flush. Id recommend a juice or broth at first and then you can eat a light meal after that when you get hungry.

Warning

If you have never performed intestine cleansing in the past you will want to perform this at home and probably alone. This colon cleanse can result in awful smelling gas and very liquid stools.
